Pediatric Dentistry

What is Pediatric Dentistry?

Pediatric dentistry is a form of dentistry that is specifically designed to meet a child’s needs in a way that encourages their trust and confidence.

It is important that a children’s dentist is able to interact with children of any personality type and attempt to gain their trust. Fear and uncertainty is common, especially in first time visitors, and successful pediatric dentistry requires the ability to establish a rapport with a child and ease anxiety so that an exam or procedure can be completed.

Why Choose Our Practice in Los Angeles?

Children see the world in their own way.

Our Los Angeles-based children’s dentists are sensitive to each child’s perceptions, and we have built a practice that offers a relaxing and non-threatening environment, friendly and caring dental team, and an approach that attempts to draw each child out and enable them to feel they have some control over their circumstances. Excellent oral health for every patient is our goal, and the way to achieve that is to minimize anxiety and establish a relationship with each child.

What Dental Services Does Our Practice Offer for Children?

Our practices located in Los Angeles: Culver City, Hollywood, Echo Park and Miracle Miles, provide a wide range of dental services for children.

  • Fillings: We will remove cavities and fill the space with protective material to restore the integrity of the tooth.
  • SSCs (stainless steel crowns): These are used to aid in restoring badly broken-down baby teeth or first molars.
  • Sealants: A sealant provides ideal protection from cavities. A protective material is placed over teeth by covering fissures and pits and preventing the trapping of food.
  • Child prophylaxis: Prophylaxis is a series of treatments that remove stains and plaque from the teeth.
  • Pulpotomy: Sometimes called a “baby root canal”, but essentially is not actually a root canal. A pulpotomy removes the inflamed pulp chamber in a baby tooth, usually a molar. The area is then sterilized and sealed.
  • Orthodontics: Braces and corrective procedures.
  • Space Maintainers: These are used to hold space open for adult teeth to grow in when baby teeth are lost too early.

Parents: What You Can Do Before Your Child’s First Visit

Our Los Angeles team of compassionate dental professionals will strive to make every child’s visit relaxing and comfortable.

However, a child’s perception is molded by those around them. Before coming to our office, you can talk to your child about their upcoming visit in a positive way, encouraging them to ask questions and answering them enthusiastically. This will help your child to develop a positive impression of dental care, and will encourage a healthy relationship between you, your child, and our practice.
